Latest 2011 Information:

The spring brings on many new projects to include a gate and pool house.  It may take several years to complete but is part of the plan.  Gary finished a bee class in March to look at having a bee hive and produce honey for personal use.

We had helped our son and daughter work last couple of years on a property in Denver.  They have rebuilt a 1950 home in the DU area, over the past couple of years.  It's complete and looks great.  They will attemp to sell it this year.

Last year went by very quickly and the new office/garage has been put on hold indefitely.  Maybe sometime in the future.  We spent most of the spring with forest cleanup.  The last snow storm in the spring broke 60 trees in half.  It took till mid summer to get it cleaned up completely.  Then we focused on cleaning up the piles of wood that had accumulated in the back yard.

Last spring in May we took 10 days to go to San Francisco, California and it was wonderful until we tried to drive out of the state and the snow was so deep that, we had to go home the way we entered the state.  Well that is the way it goes.

In 2009, business has been very active with the down turn in the economy and the construction of a new office/garage has been placed on hold.  A trip to Santa Fe in the Spring and early this year fire mitigation with the building of a new road down the East side of the property.

A highlight was several vacations to the Grand Canyon and a trip to Hawaii for 10 days.

In 2006, our daughter graduated from the University of Denver, in June.  A big milestone for us since she is our youngest.  It's great to see how they have become adults.

We took a week cruise to Alaska at the end of June (wonderful) and just attended a conference in Washington, D.C.  Plan to take more trips and have my sights on Hawaii next year.

The next big project is the additional garage next year and that is still in the planning phase.  Still trees to clear and plans to be drawn up.  It may take more time than anticipated but will continue to press.  Our garden is doing well dispite hail early in the season.

In 2005, we completed many projects to include sprinkler system and yard, circular driveway was widened to 20', river bed and many perennials and bulbs. We also removed the old trailer and sheds and had the lower garage painted. Cutting up and removing trees will always be on our list.

The year of 2004, has seen many new projects and completions. Since we live in the forest tree removal will always be high on the list of things to do. We have removed about a 100 trees this year and many more to go next year. We finished the driveway in front of the house and culverts were placed in for water drainage. We are presently working on retaining walls in front of our home and a sprinking system.

The family has also seen changes. Our oldest son Gregory graduated from the University of Denver in March. And our daughter Andrea is now a junior at D.U. and just turned 21.

Well the time has come and we have completed the new home. It has been a very hard process and time consuming, but we are very excited about the new house. We hope to complete our move this weekend December 7, 2003. Carol and I look forward to the holiday season and both families visiting and the new house.

The end of September 2003 is here and the summer has flown by. The new house is now closing in on being complete. We are looking at moving in as soon as possible. The estimated time of completion is the end of November 2003. We have worked very hard and hope the next step goes well. I have also retired from teaching as of this month. We will be living in a rural neighborhood and look forward to the completion of this long project. We started this adventure three years ago today.

It is now the beginning of July 2003. We have made significant progress on framing the house and should have this completed in the next couple of weeks. The next step will be to roof the house and get it closed in as quickly as possible.

The new home has now begun. We finally got approval of our plans to build from the Regional Building Department on May 19, 2003. Since then electricity has been brought to new house. The foundation footer went in last week in May. And this week the foundation was completed on June 3, 2003. Next, the backfilling; insulating the foundation; foundation drains; and framing will come very shortly.

The house area is almost cleared of trees and have made good progress with the mild winter so far. We are almost ready for electricity and have a contract with the local power company. We will begin the process of finding contractors for the project and would like to break ground in the Spring.

The fall has arrived and helped our daughter move down to the University of Denver. We now have two children attending the University but on the bright side both our son and daughter are not far away.

We continue to work this summer and fall on clearing trees for the new house and the driveway to the house is 100% complete. The driveway is about 250 yards long. Now we have a 100' area to clear away from where the house will go, for the fire setback. Carol and I have become experts at cutting and chipping trees.

The months of May and June 2002, my daughter's graduation from High School, was the main focus. Graduation went off without a hitch. Next will be college in the fall at the University of Denver. We will be empty nesters again. How strange!
